Pig Latin Speakers March for Equal Rights

Angry demonstrators marched outside the Capitol Building in Sacramento, California this morning demanding equal rights for native Pig Latin (PL) speakers. The march in Sacramento is one of several hundred taking place across the country in support of PL.

Orfay ootay onglay eway avehay eenbay ignoredyay andyay eatedtray unfairlyyay implysay ecausebay ouryay anguagelay isyay ifferentday. Aliforniacay ouldshay ebay ayay eaderlay , otnay ayay ollowerfay , inyay ecognizingray ethay ightplay ofyay osethay owhay onlyyay eakspay igpay atinlay,” commanded their representative Aulpay Ewmannay.

A translator from The Oxford Sentinel phrased Mr. Ewmannay’s statement in English for our readers:

”We must have equal opportunity, like all other citizens. For too long we have been ignored and treated unfairly simply because our language is different. California should be a leader, not a follower, in recognizing the plight of those who can only speak Pig Latin.”

Mr Ewmannay went on to state in English, ”Individuals who speak Pig Latin have been underrepresented in all walks of life while other marginalized groups have seen continuous progress. Simply put, we have been overlooked for too long and we will not stop making our voices heard until we are granted equal protection under the law.”

Even the Catholic Church got into the controversy by holding some masses in Pig Latin. Monsignor Neil B. Formee of the San Francisco Diocese said, "Most parishioners don't notice the difference whether the mass is in Latin or PL anyway, so it is a big nothing to us."

Mr. Ewmannay noted, “Our next objective is to pressure the New York Times to include Ordleway in its Game Section.”
